Broder Café is known for its standout dishes, each carefully crafted to showcase authentic Swedish flavors. A must-try is the Æbleskiver Danish Pancakes, fluffy little delights served with housemade lemon curd and lingonberry jam—perfectly sweet and tangy. If you're in the mood for something hearty, the Pytt I Panna is a delightful Swedish hash made with small cubed potatoes, bell peppers, and onions, topped with soft-baked eggs and pickled beets, offering a satisfying bite that captures the essence of Nordic comfort food.

For those who crave a savory treat, the Köttbullar (traditional Swedish meatballs) sautéed in sherry cream sauce are a popular choice, served alongside traditional Nordic rye and a dollop of vibrant lingonberry jam that cuts through the richness beautifully. Don’t forget to try the refreshing Spring Salad, bursting with seasonal greens, peas, and a hint of mint—an excellent complement to any meal.

Several customers have flooded the café with praise, noting the flavorful dishes made from fresh, local ingredients. Kim Lê-Simpson said, "Each dish was filling but not too heavy." Dan Edwards, a loyal patron, remarked, "We've been going here for close to 15 years and we've never had a bad meal." Such glowing reviews affirm the café’s commitment to quality and consistency.

Coming from a Norwegian family, me and my Dad loved having breakfast/brunch here! Great hole-in-the-wall vibe. Not surprising this place is popular!

Norwegian cafe with great coffee! Their cardamom Americano is to die for = (sooooo Good). Some of the servers could seem stressed at times and impatient with answering questions which can seem not as friendly but overall a good experience! There few flies in the restituant which was not very attractive. One thing to note is that they have an automatic %18 tip added to your bill! Plus feature: They have outside sitting which is lovely for summer time! I would come back for their cardamom americano for sure next time I’m in Portland!

Absolutely loved it here! Each dish was filling but not too heavy. Fresh ingredients really bring out incredible flavors. I totally understand why this place is so popular— I would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

This place is amazing!!! We've been going here for close to 15 years and we've never had a bad meal. The Broder board is delicious and the different varieties of lefse are fantastic. It can be a little bit of a wait to sit down, but it's absolutely worth it. We will be back for sure.

Service was attentive and quick once we were sat down. Theres a wait - get there early to put your group on the waitlist. Nice stores to walk around while you wait and self serve coffee! Orange juice was delicious and fresh, coffee and teas were good. We tried a variety of dishes with the pickled herring and sausages. Recommend the danish pancakes they were cooked to perfection!! We also got the breakfast sandwich, Swedish hash, the lost eggs and two eggs with fruit fritters and mushrooms. My only complaint was that the mushrooms tasted a bit bitter/burnt but besides that we all enjoyed our food.

Amazing food and place. We had such a good brunch there. The 45 minute wait was definitely worth it. The Swedish pancakes and egg-mushroom dish we ate were both really good. Definitely recommend going here, just come 30 minutes in advance if you hope to get a table.

Amazing food, hot and fresh. Very flavorful and well balanced tastes on the Golden Milk, Hot Cocoa, æbleskiver (danish pancakes) with lemon curd and ligonberry and the förlorade ägg (lost eggs). Definitely love coming here. Customer service was excellent. Very calm, welcoming, relaxed. Very kid friendly, no kids menu that I am aware of, but the pancakes and lafse is always a great option if they like sweet.
